Financial Statement Analysis for Value Investing

by Stephen Penman and Peter F. Pope

Welcome to the book!

Valuation is a matter of accounting: the investor accounts for value. The “accounting book” provides the structure for the value investor. It embeds good thinking about how firms generate value for investors and about risk and return. That good thinking tells the investor how to challenge the price the market is asking you to pay and that price might not embed the good thinking.
