Stephen Penman

Stephen Penman is the George O. May Professor Emeritus at Columbia Business School. Previously, he was a professor at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. His research focuses on equity valuation and the role of accounting in security analysis. He has received multiple awards, including the Notable Contribution to Accounting Literature Award and the Wildman Medal. Penman is a founding editor of the Review of Accounting Studies and serves on advisory boards for investment firms. In 2019, he was elected to the Accounting Hall of Fame.

Peter Pope

Peter F. Pope is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at the London School of Economics. His research examines the links between financial fundamentals, securities valuation and risk, as well as the impact of capital markets regulation, accounting standards, audit and governance on financial reporting quality. Recognized for his contributions to research and education, in 2024 he received the Anthony G. Hopwood Award for Academic Leadership from the European Accounting Association. A legal expert in financial fair play cases and a consultant to investment management firms, he has also served as Academic Coordinator of the Institute for Quantitative Investment Research since 1991.
